When the snow starts to fall and it’s time to head inside for après, check out these places for a great winter beer…

Timberline lodge.jpg

Timberline Lodge

Historic Timberline Lodge was built during the Great Depression to kick start economic growth in Oregon. FDR himself dedicated the place so come ski Mount Hood and just ignore the reality that all pre-war sites are haunted.

Full Sail Brewery

Located in downtown Hood River this comfy brewery has great views of the mighty but damed Columbia River. Grab one of the most name appropriate flights we have encountered and listen to the near constant winter rain.

pFriem Family Brewers

Another Hood River staple just built a fancy new brewery steps from the Columbia. Bask in Mount Hood’s shadow and have fun at a place so new the water was not functioning yet. Thats okay we came for beer.

Olympia Provisions

Located on the way too hip Division Street in Portland this establishment has great wieners (bratwurst) and beers to match. A naked bike ride cycled on thru and the crowd here was not even bothered to notice. Another day in PDX.

The Podski

Home of $2 Rainer drafts and a diverse group of food trucks this is the spot to go in Bend’s Old Mill district. Grab like a hundred pierogis, some thai food, or chicken and waffles. This place has everything.

Spider City Brewing

Staying in Bend with this off the beaten path spot. I love breweries that are tucked away in industrial areas. They are manufacturing products, delicious beer, so it feels right when breweries pop up in converted auto repair garages.

Pelican Brewing

The Pacific City location could not be closer to the beach as sand covers the scenic back deck. This brewery is known for its seasonal specials so grab one while they last and take a hike thru beautiful Cape Kiwanda.
