Of the 10 highest capacity stadiums in the world 8 are college football venues. These taxpayer funded behemoths sit idly by except for about 6 Saturdays a year. So what about the other 360 something days a year? How hard is it to just walk into these college football stadiums?...

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium – Gainesville, Florida

Thank you to the PUBLIC University of Florida for allowing anyone to just walk into to this 88,000 seat cathedral. Of course you can’t go onto the field but every public institution should open their gates for fans to run stairs or just enjoy the place.

LaVell Edwards Stadium - Provo, Utah

When summer football camps are doing morning check-in… act like a confused parent and just wander out there.

Michigan Stadium – Ann Arbor, Michigan

Michigan

Only Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in North Korea and Sardar Patel Stadium in Gujarat, India can host more people than “The Big House” and as a result this place is pretty locked down.

Martin Stadium – Pullman, Washington

WSU

The concourses at Washington State are wide open but the seating bowl is not.

The Kibbie Dome – Moscow, Idaho

KibbieDome

The legend from NCAA football video games. It’s hard to sneak into a dome. We could hear the marching band practicing though.

The Carrier Dome – Syracuse, New York

My alma matres home stadium notoriously features an air-supported roof and pressure-locked doors, preventing any chance of intrusion. The new renovations however have yet to be tested.

Autzen Stadium – Eugene, Oregon

AutzenZoo

That NIKE money means you will get nowhere near the field without paying for a ticket.

Rice–Eccles Stadium – Salt Lake City, Utah

UofUtah

Unlike Mormon Square downtown, the people here are way less friendly and don’t want you to hang around.

Boone Pickens Stadium – Stillwater, Oklahoma

Construction can provide many opportunities but can also close normally open buildings and obscure sight-lines from the outside.

Reser Stadium – Corvallis, Oregon

OregonState

Similar to construction, always seek out one-of-a-kind opportunities… like university staff power washing the bleachers.

Canvas Stadium – Fort Collins, Colorado

A brand new stadium, with brand new security.

Doak S. Campbell Stadium  – Tallahassee, Florida

The campus tour lets you in the stadium, but sadly our undergrad days are long gone.

Powers Field – Princeton University

princeton

Situated on an absolutely gorgeous campus this stadium is relatively accessible during the off season… Or maybe that was because I worked for Princeton Sports Camps?

UVM Athletic Field – Burlington, Vermont

UVM

The Catamounts eliminated their football program in 1974 so feel free to just walk out on the intramural fields.

Folsom Field – Boulder, Colorado

Buffs

The prettiest Power 5 stadium has great views of the field from the outside, but you can’t get in. Coach Prime keeping things secure.

Bulldog Stadium - Fresno, California

Oh Fresno. You have a terrible reputation, but I had a great time in the Central Valley. Bade reputation does mean lots of high fences.

Vaught Hemingway Stadium – Oxford, Mississippi

OleMiss

We have only been on gameday and therefore don’t remember anything.

Sun Devil Stadium - Tempe, Arizona

Just outside Phoenix sits a stadium that hast hosted a Super Bowl and Pope JP deuce. Like most stadiums in metro areas almost impossible to wander in.

Albertsons Stadium – Boise, Idaho

You can get pretty close to the beautiful blue turf at Boise State, but not all the way on the field.
